KISS Documentary Latest: “Ace & Peter Refused To Take Part…” | Scott Rowley | Dave Ling

Ace Frehley and Peter Criss have snubbed Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons by refusing to appear in the official Kiss movie, You Wanted The Best You Got The Best, which has just entered production.

The erstwhile guitarist and drummer, co-founders of the veteran US band but ex-members since 2002 and 2004 respectively, have declined to be interviewed for the project, which is being directed by Alan G Parker, who among other movies was responsible for last year’s acclaimed Hello Quo!

“Gene and Paul were shocked at first, but now they don’t seem to be,” comments Parker. “There’s been so much bitchiness down the years, and so much said about and done to Ace and Peter that they interpreted the request to be in the movie as a favour to Gene and Paul. Because of that they won’t go anywhere near it. The negotiations were interesting to say the least.”

It was Tommy Thayer who saved the day. As the producer and editor of several past Kiss projects before officially joining the band, having recalled that a Kiss documentary was filmed and shelved a dozen years ago, the ex-Black N’ Blue guitarist presented Parker with several hours of chat with the Spaceman and The Catman. In addition to the current line-up of Kiss (completed by drummer Eric Singer), former guitarists Bruce and Bob Kulick have both participated and there were positive meetings with the family of Eric Carr, the group’s drummer who died of heart cancer in 1991. With five more interviews to be shot, Parker hopes to show the finished film to the band in February or March, followed by a spot at the Cannes Film Festival in May and a worldwide opening in the autumn of 2014.

Gene Simmons, who visited the Classic Rock office this morning (Monday 30th September), having sung the American National Anthem at Wembley Stadium before last night’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers, says that Kiss are allowing Parker complete artistic freedom.

“The results won’t be sugar-coated,” insists the bassist, who expects to tour the UK with Kiss in the early part of 2014. “Alan has one hundred per cent freedom to present us the way he sees fit, and if that makes us look like capitalist pigs then so be it. It’s exactly what I am – I will charge you for everything I do.”

Gene Simmons: We Worship Satan On KISS Kruise

Kiss star Gene Simmons has joked the passengers on the annual Kiss Kruise which sets sail this year from October 28 worship Satan on board.

Kiss star Gene Simmons has joked the passengers on the Kiss Kruise worship Satan.

The 64-year-old bassist and his bandmates Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are set to host the third annual cruise for fans from October 28, during which they will play an acoustic show without their trademark make-up and celebrate the spooky holiday Halloween.

Gene claims one of the leisure activities on offer to paying passengers is a ceremony celebrating Hell-dweller Beelzebub - who, according to the Christian faith, is an evil fallen angel who rebelled against God and wishes to lead humanity away from moral behaviour.

In an interview with UK station Absolute Radio 90s, Gene said: ''We've been touring the world for two-and-a-half years, on and off, and we're going to Japan in about a week and a half, and right after the Japanese tour, we do the Kiss Kruise. It's four or five thousand crazed fans who gather on a ship and worship Satan. We do all kinds of crazy things, wear make-up and all kinds of fun stuff.''

The musician performed the US national anthem at the National Football League (NFL) International Series game at London's Wembley Stadium on Sunday (29.09.13) and he admits he is a big fan of the ''real man's'' sport.

Mocking soccer - the most popular game in the UK, where it is known as football - he explained: ''The NFL is a great organisation, as you know, and the American version of football doesn't really include a ball at all, it is a sort of very angular. The guys weigh as much as a small truck when they come at you with speed. The reason they wear padding is because it's real man's sport.''

Today In KISStory - September 30, 1984: The 'Animalize' tour kicks off in Brighton, England. The Animalize Tour was a concert tour in support of KISS' Animalize album.

It was divided into two halves: the European leg and the U.S. leg, with two very different shows and stage sets. The European staging was essentially the Unmasked Tour stage, decorated to resemble the Animalize album cover (amps painted with leopard spots and tiger stripes). One short-lived prop saw two growling panthers covering Eric Carr's bass drums.

When Animalize became a surprise hit in America, a much larger stage set was designed for the American leg of the tour by Tait Towers.

The shows would start much in the same manner as the Dynasty show, with the band being lifted onto the stage by a lift behind the drum riser. Sound effects of a large airplane landing would be played over the speakers while the band was coming up, and after the famous "You Wanted The Best" intro the band would launch into "Detroit Rock City".

This was the first tour with Bruce Kulick on lead guitar, replacing Mark St. John who couldn't play due to his arthritic condition. Originally Kulick was a temporary replacement, but St. John's condition did not improve, and Kulick was named an official member on December 8, 1984. Bon Jovi was the opening act on the European leg, with Queensr├┐che and Krokus opening shows in North America.

The Animalize period was the band's most successful of the decade with the crossover success of "Heaven's on Fire" onto CHR/Top 40 radio, a very well-attended concert trek, and with Animalize selling nearly 2 million copies by the end of the tour.

Here's audio of that first show of the "Animalize" tour show in Brighton, England.

REVIEW: A World With Heroes – A KISS Tribute for Cancer Care – A 40th Anniversary Celebration

A World With Heroes – A KISS Tribute for Cancer Care – A 40th Anniversary Celebration

Cancer sucks. Kiss rules. Agreed? Buy this CD.

Mitch Lafon executive produced this sucker, and I suspect that means a hell of a lot of work. I have never in my travels discovered a cooler Kiss tribute album. Do you really need to buy another Kiss tribute album? Do you? Yes, you do. Why? For the following reasons:

-Profits benefit the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence in Hudson, Quebec.
-Obscure track selections.
-Rare Kiss related gems, such as two Peter Criss Band demos with Phil Naro.
-New Brighton Rock! Finally.
-Superstar performers including Mark Tornillo of Accept, Russ Dwarf, Don Dokken, Bonfire, Sean Kelly, Vinny Appice, L.A. Guns, Doro, and many more.
-Members of the Kiss family including Eric Carr, Peter Criss, Frehley’s Comet (minus Frehley), Bob Kulick and Phil Naro.

I can’t say enough good things about this compilation. Upon first sight, it had enough rarities from artists I liked, as well as Kiss obscurities, to make it a must-have. Hearing it, I’m blown away repeatedly. It is a heady brew of hits and deep, deep cuts. Since there are 51 tracks in total, I can’t go into too much detail. I’ll point out some personal favourite moments.

I’m a huge fan of the Revenge album, and I’m a huge fan of Accept. Hearing Mark Tornillo do his thing through “Spit” was awesome. I think the man’s vocal cords must be made of steel or something for him to sing like that. I also loved “Sure Know Something”, although I don’t know Chris Buck & Anthony Cardenas Montana. It’s a slinky version, very true to the original but with a Rod Stewart vibe. Jeff Paris does a pretty authentic “Shout Mercy” and I give him full points for doing a Monster tune, the newest Kiss song on A World With Heroes.

Sea Star Films Shot The Vow Renewal For KISS Frontman Gene Simmons In Part Of The Documentary "The Ultimate Wedding Planner" Movie They Are Producing

KISS frontman Gene Simmons says "I Do" again in a luxurious ceremony in Maui, Hawaii.

This past weekend famed rocker Gene Simmons from KISS and his wife Shannon Tweed renewed their vows. Yes they are still technically newly weds as only officially tying the knot last year after being together for nearly 30 years. Shannon Tweed wore an elegant gown designed by Badgley Mischka. The luxury wedding event was designed by famed Japanese wedding planner Yoshi Nojiri of "Take and Give Needs" company. Nojiri is the youngest entrepreneur to take his company publicly traded in Japan. His company produces 18,000 weddings a year.

The stunning decor floral arrangements of thousands of brightly colored wild orchards along with the crystal chandeliers in a French Versailles style garden, made for a romantic fairytale theme. The chandeliers were flown in from Las Vegas specifically for the event. This over the top ultra glamorous style is what Yoshi Nojiri is famously known for.

Dom Perignon champagne was freely flowing and the catering was provided by Sugar Beach Events of Hawaii.

Guests were entertained with an impromptu concert where Gene and his family jumped on stage with the band to jam together. Gene played the bass while his son and daughter sang classic rock standards and jazz tunes. The family said this was a first time they did this sort of thing together.

Conde Nast Traveler rated the location of the event, Haiku Mills, where Gene Simmons had his ceremony, number 2 in the country and top 25 in the world for wedding event destinations.

This is all part of "The Ultimate Wedding Planner" movie Sea Star Films is producing, directed by Celia Evans.

Gene Simmons To Sing National Anthem During Vikings-Steelers Game In London | Phopto: Getty Images

This coming Sunday, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons will pay tribute to the United States when he sings the National Anthem during the Minnesota Vikings-Pittsburgh Steelers game at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

He says, “I’m excited to be touching down in London to sing our U.S. national anthem at the Vikings-Steelers game. I always love playing a role in these types of high-action, fast-paced games, not to mention returning to the U.K. and performing in front of some the best fans in the world!”

This isn’t the Demon’s first try at the Star Spangled Banner. Last year Simmons performed it during a San Diego Chargers-Oakland Raiders game in Oakland. His band-mate Paul Stanley sang the national anthem at a Los Angeles Dodgers game last month.

KISS has made other headlines surrounding football recently with the announcement of the L.A. KISS Arena Football League team that Simmons and Stanley own, and the attempt to lure Tim Tebow.

Thankfully, come Sunday, there will be some talent on the field besides Adrian Peterson…

Happy 15th Anniversary To KISS' "Psycho Circus" Album

Today In KISStory - September 22, 1998: The KISS album 'Psycho Circus' is released.

Psycho Circus is the 18th studio album by KISS. The album features the original four members of he band back together and in full make-up (since 1979). Some pressings of the album featured a lenticular cover that alternates between a black KISS logo and the album title with pictures of a clown and the band members, while the Japan initial first pressing featured a pop-up cover which had 3 foam spring-loaded panels of a clown face and 2 others with band members faces that popped out when the doors were opened. The track "You Wanted the Best" is the only KISS song in which lead vocals are shared by the entire lineup.

Following the highly successful 1996-1997 reunion tour, Psycho Circus was marketed as the first studio album by the band's original lineup since 1979's Dynasty (as Peter Criss did not participate on 1980's Unmasked). As with Dynasty and Unmasked, however, many of the songs were recorded by uncredited players. Guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss were used sparingly, with Criss only playing drums on "Into the Void." Frehley played on two songs from the album (not including vocals). In 2011 in Frehley's book No Regrets, he says that he wrote a lot of songs for the album, one of those songs being titled "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Rock 'n' Roll." He mentions that the title and song were deemed very similar to the song "I Pledge Allegiance to the State of Rock 'n' Roll." "Into the Void" was originally titled "Shakin' Sharp Shooter" but Simmons and Stanley were unhappy with the lyrics and title so Simmons rewrote it.

In a radio interview with Eddie Trunk following his departure Criss stated that only "Into the Void" featured instrumental contributions from all four members. Regarding the lack of cohesion in the group at the time of recording, Stanley stated "We tried to do a KISS album, and it was an ill-fated attempt because there was no real band," and continued by adding "For a band to make a great album, it has to share a common purpose, and we didn't have it." In 2012 Stanley also talked about why the original lineup didn't play on the record, and that's because so many lawyers were getting involved and they just lost tolerance and told Frehley and Criss not to bother showing up. Although Stanley doesn't say whose lawyers were getting involved. (Drummer Kevin Valentine and current KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer are thought to have played on the album, although not credited in the album notes.)

Bruce Fairbairn was brought to produce the album, and stated that he wanted to stay away from gimmicks and trends such as guest appearances, just "tried to stay true to what KISS does best and people remember them for". The album was mostly recorded at Los Angeles' A&M Studios and One on One Recording Studios, with the performances being first recorded with analogue equipment, and then digitized for mixing and overdubs. Afterwards it was mixed by Mick Guzauski in his New York studio, and mastered by Fairbarn and Kiss' long-time partner George Marino at Sterling Sound NY. Fairbairn complimented the band for being collaborative, declaring that "it had the potential to be a nightmare because they're all disparate and strong characters, musically and as people."

Psycho Circus debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200, selling 110,000 copies in its first week of release, and was certified Gold by the RIAA on October 22, 1998. Rolling Stone said about the album, "Psycho Circus is an album of platform-stomping rhythms, roller-coaster guitar riffs and sing-along choruses - is far more respectable than any of the awkward flops from the no-makeup years." Entertainment Weekly (9/25/98, p. 106) said, "This is rock with a capital R, captured in all its cheesy glory... This new effort proves that in the circus of hard-rock dinosaurs, KISS remains its Barnum & Bailey."

Paul Stanley - lead vocals, rhythm guitar, (bass guitar on "I Finally Found My Way" and the chorus section of "I Pledge Allegiance to the State of Rock and Roll")
Gene Simmons - lead vocals, bass guitar, (rhythm guitar on "We Are One")
Ace Frehley - lead guitar, lead vocals (only on "Into the Void", "You Wanted the Best" & "In Your Face")

Bruce Kulick - backwards guitar intro & Solo on "Within" and Rhythm Guitar & Bass on "Dreamin"

Ace Frehley's Trouble Walkin' Special Deluxe Collector's Edition

Special Deluxe Collector's Edition / Fully remastered sound shaped from 24 Bit digital technology / Classic Hard Rock from original Kiss guitarist / Contains Shot Full Of Rock , Do Ya and 2 Young 2 Die / 12 page full colour booklet 3,500 word essay, enhanced artwork and unpublished photos.

He was the man with the rocket firing guitar. Dubbed the Space Ace, the coolest member of 70s rock gods Kiss and a man who attracted a legion of fan followers of his own for reasons both good and bad. Ace's devilishly potent guitar playing lent Kiss a sense of purpose and ambition that elevated them from amusing comic book crusaders to seriously dangerous heavy metal heroes. As with most things in life it couldn't last. Down but not out, Ace left Kiss in 1982 to pursue a solo career, one that was eagerly anticipated by legions of fans keen to sample his razor sharp riffs and quirky song writing in a brand new setting. With two successful albums recorded under the banner of Frehley's Comet, Ace retired the band moniker in favour of a solo outing for album #3, the amusingly titled Trouble Walkin .

Issued in late 1989, the album reunited Ace with veteran Kiss Producer Eddie Kramer helping to craft a record of high grade hard rock with all the accoutrements that you might reasonably expect from such a maverick character. With titles such as Shot Full Of Rock , Five Card Stud , Hide Your Heart , 2 Young To Die and a brilliantly creative cover of ELO's Do Ya , Ace unloads salvo upon salvo of lighting fast licks and twisted riffs proving that his talent was as explosive as ever. Track listing: Shot Full Of Rock; Do Ya; Five Card Stud; Hide Your Heart; Lost In Limbo; Trouble Walkin'; 2 Young 2 Die; Back To School; Remember Me; Fractured III

Available on Oct. 21. More details HERE:

Remember When: Rockers KISS Hit The North East

They were the rock stars dressed like Marvel comic book heroes who took America by storm – and a band which also made waves here in the UK

Formed in New York City, Kiss combined a modicum of musical talent with a prodigious work ethic to become one of the biggest rock acts of the 1970s – and beyond.

Their stock in trade, of course, would be their outrageous and outlandish stage-wear and black and white painted faces, plus a stunning stage show that featured blood-spitting, fire-breathing, guitars that fired rockets, and pyrotechnics.

Albums like Destroyer and Alive were massive sellers, especially in the US, while singles like Crazy Crazy Nights and God Gave Rock And Roll To You would bring them major hits in Britain.

But on this day in 1983, with their career somewhat on the wane, Kiss appeared for the first time without their make-up on that recent innovation, MTV.

A little over a month later, the foursome were on tour and in the region at a packed Newcastle City Hall.

Our reviewer was impressed, but first up, he dealt with the band’s new look.

“Even without their make-up – or should that be especially without – these guys could never win a beauty contest, but their music is something else.

“Their banks of speakers blasted out exactly what the crowd wanted – some of the sweatiest rock around – so loud that my ears were still numb the next day.”

Despite the new image, it was clear Kiss could still put on a trademark over-the-top show.

“The stage was decked out like a giant tank, with a massive drum kit perched on the turret, a huge illuminated ‘Kiss’ sign as a backdrop, and with lighting and smoke-effect rigs on the stage and overhead.”

The review concluded: “Make-up or not, Kiss left a lasting impression and many happy memories.”

In May 1992, they were back in the region and totally unaffected by the recent movie satire on the world of heavy rock that had become a classic cult film.

As our reporter declared: “In many ways it was the gig Spinal Tap never had.

“Kiss took to the Whitley Bay Ice Rink stage last night from the mouth of a sphinx; a guitarist breathed fire; and bombs exploded like the Blitz.

“Other bands may have been shamed into toning down their on-stage antics by the Tap spoof movie – Kiss seem positively rejuvenated by it.”

The band’s last appearance in the region came at Newcastle Arena in 2010 where the make-up and pyrotechnics were still an integral part of the show.

With founder members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley now 64 and 61 respectively, they show no sign of letting up.

As our reviewer at Whitley Bay in 1992 concluded: “The day that Kiss get deep and introspective is the day they’ll have to quit.”

INTERVIEW: KISS Talk About Their Rise From The Streets Of New York To The Stages Of The World Photo: | Fin Costello/KISS Catalog Ltd.

When road manager J.R. Smalling introduced KISS as “The hottest band in the land” on their breakthrough double live album Alive!, it wasn’t just hyperbole. There was no one else in the world at that moment delivering a more exciting live concert experience full of great songs, electric performances and groundbreaking theatricality. And while that 1975 album was the band’s watershed release they had already built up a large and fanatical live following from non-stop touring since the release of their self-titled debut album in 1974.

The new book Nothin’ To Lose: The Making of Kiss (1972 – 1975) chronicles the band’s embryonic days as rock n’roll fanatics from New York City’s outer boroughs with a relentless will to succeed. The book is an oral history and includes interviews with the band, their friends, and crew, as well as opening acts and other musicians who were there first hand to witness the group’s hard scrabble ascent to worldwide fame. Co-authors and for nearly 40 years the band’s leading lights, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons sat down to talk about the band’s past and future.

VH1 TUNER: How did this book come about?

Paul Stanley: Ken Sharpe put the book together. He’s a long time fan. We’ve known him since he was literally about 8 years old. He’s an avid fan of the band and an avid fan of rock n’ roll. He’s been conducting and compiling interviews over the years and it seemed a natural thing for us to do at this point. We’ve always told the story from our point of view but it’s really interesting to hear what managers, promoters, roadies, all kinds of people who were there recall because quite honestly there’s things in the book that I don’t remember. I don’t know that they’re true but if they make me look good then they’re true (laughter).

VH1: What was it about those years that you wanted to focus on that you felt was special and was an untold side of the Kiss story?

Gene Simmons: When you’re at the front of a train all you’re seeing is what’s coming at you. We have a very unique advantage because we get that adrenaline rush but you don’t get a chance to figure out what it all means. What the side scenery is like. Do I have my mother’s hips? You know, all that stuff which everyone else in the train gets and then the very last person sees it all go by. So they’re all different perspectives of an interesting, astonishing train ride that we’ve had which is now approaching 40 years and boy, do we look good (laughter).

Tommy Thayer Hosted Event Grosses $500K For University

Legends 2013 Raises Historic Amount for Pacific University

Pacific University Legends Hosted by Tommy Thayer Grosses $500,000

With nearly 350 people attending, Pacific University Legends, hosted by Tommy Thayer, set a new record last month grossing almost half a million dollars during the annual fundraising event that supports the university’s student-athletes and the 24-sport NCAA Division III athletics program.

Seven years ago, Tommy Thayer, the lead guitarist for the legendary rock band KISS and a trustee of Pacific University, came up with the idea of hosting an event that would bring in sports celebrities and musicians to mingle with guests, participate in silent and live auctions, and play in unique all-star concerts. Fine dining is always a tradition at a Legends event, which took place this year at Waverley Country Club in Portland on Aug. 25.

“A truly historic and fun night for the university,” said Tommy Thayer. “From the support of our generous donors and trustees, to all my celebrity friends, to the organizing staff and volunteers, I appreciate how hard everyone worked to make this a success.”

Will Tim Tebow Sign With Gene Simmons’ LA KISS?

Following his unwelcoming performances recently in NFL and subsequently opting to become a free agent, the media now reports that renowned quarterback, Tim Tebow, might be on the hunt for other avenues.

The report comes after a press release, published on Monday, quoted Gene Simmons as agreeing to have Tebow play for LA KISS, the Arena Football League, which is set to make its debut during the 2014 season.

LA KISS through the press release established that that they are offering Tebow an opportunity for a comeback in American football where the quarterback has an open invitation to sign up for a 3 year deal.

The press release also noted that the former New England Patriots will be able to make several millions if he agrees to sign the contract.

But this opportunity doesn’t come easy according to the release. The star will have to commit full attention and work hard to achieve the team’s anticipated goals as the season kicks in.

Since he has already played for NFL, his high status will have to be maintained by the team and thus “LA KISS will offer intense training and unwavered commitment,” to ensure that he keeps up with his play level.

One quality particularly emphasized by the press release on alleged deal offer by Gene Simmons of LA KISS and his counterpart Paul Stanley to the free agent, Tim Tebow is that connected to his athleticism.

Stanley said that Tim Tebow remains “one of the most recognized and respected athletes in sports.”

And Simmons seconded the idea by saying that Tebow would bring more than just a “great investment to the team.”

The overall objective by LA KISS to sign up Tim Tebow has also been linked to his many fans that are reportedly said to have fought hard to have him reclaim his title in NFL.

Simmons and Stanley on the release also added on the business advantage the team would gain after Tebow signs the contract.

But once the contract has been accepted, the press release further acknowledged that AFL’s (Board of directors and the Players Union) will be required to have it approved.

Despite the press release whose aim was to confirm the team’s interest to have Tim Tebow play for the LA KISS, the American football quarterback has not given any answer or sign that would portray his interest to play for the described Arena Football League, LA KISS.

New KISS Book Enters New York Times Bestseller List

KISS frontman/rock god Paul Stanley has just posted the following on his Twitter account in regards to sales of the new KISS book "Nothin' To Lose: The Making of KISS (1972-1975)."

Paul Stanley: "Just got word… Coming into the New York Times Bestseller List at number nine!"

L.A. KISS Promise To Put On An Arena League Football Show, Name Bill McMillen Coach

No seriously, I told my wife Tuesday morning. I really do have to go to the House of Blues on Sunset for a press conference announcing the newest football coach for L.A.’s newest professional football team.

“And Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from KISS figure into all this how, again?”

“They own the L.A. KISS the football team I was telling you about.” I told her.

The skepticism hanging in the air was stifling at this point.

“You know I have the Daily News app, right?” my wife reminded me. “If that story doesn’t show up on your site by tonight you’re in big trouble. I got my eye on you, buddy.”

Welcome to my world, where L.A.’s various entertainment boulevards sometimes cross at the most curious intersections.

And how sometimes explaining your work day and whereabouts to your wife sounds like a precursor to the “Jerry Springer Show.”

Tuesday being a prime example, as professional football was ushered back to Los Angeles by the two front men of one of the most iconic rock bands in music history.

Sounds about right.

I mean, of course Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley would buy an Arena Football League team, name them the KISS, situate them in Los Angeles and welcome new coach Bill McMillen to town at a press conference on Sunset Boulevard where a strange brew of sports reporters, TV personalities and scantily clad beautiful women would gather at a bar at the House of Blues.

All that was missing was Tim Tebow, the banished NFL quarterback who KISS has mounted a very public pursuit of.

Here is guessing the notoriously virtuous Tebow would have been a bit uneasy in the dimly lit settings Tuesday – kind of how he looks dropping back to throw a football, come to think of it.

As for me, I loved every second of it.

It was zany and campy and a bit off the grind, but that’s the allure of the whole thing.

And while I might not rush out to see a KISS game, consider me intrigued enough by the Simmons and Stanley presentation Tuesday to be sure to check them out from time to time.

They were honest, making no qualms about the fact they want to bring an entertainment value to football in an affordable way that embraces the everyday fan who might not have the means to afford the NFL experience.

And they want to have fun doing it, and flip that fun right back on their fans.

“This is about football, and why no embellish it,” Stanley said. “At the heart of it is a big engine and that’s football. And where going to paint it up.”

Simmons agreed.

“This is an opportunity, not just for us and not just for the L.A. KISS but for Arena Football and for Los Angeles to have a football team, finally. And we’re proud to be here.”

And apparently willing to spend some money ensuring a winning product.

Simmons and Stanley have partnered up with longtime Orlando Predators managing partner Brett Bouchy to form the KISS, and in McMillen they are bringing in a longtime former AFL player and coach and a member of the AFL Hall of Fame.

McMillen was the AFL Coach of the Year in 2013 with the Chicago Rush.

Simmons and Stanley promised they will give both men ample room to do their jobs with little interference on the football side of things.

“The great thing about putting a great team together is you respect the people who have the experience in that area,” Stanley said. “I don’t think Bret or Bob will help us write any songs. They put their guitars away and while we’re not going to be out there on the field we’re going to be behind the scenes making sure that this runs to the same standard of KISS.”

And they plan to bring their celebrated KISS – the band kind – touch to their new venture.

With a keen eye on entertainment, affordability and showmanship.

“It’s a miracle to some people on the outside but the reason the band has lasted this long is because we never lost sight that we were the people in the audience who saw we weren’t getting what we deserved,” Stanley said. “We’re now getting up and saying this is what you deserve in sports. So we’re upping the game. That’s our contribution to this, making sure people get what they deserve.”

And sometimes that means an afternoon at the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard.

Today In KISStory - 1987: The album 'Crazy Nights' is released. Crazy Nights is KISS' 14th studio album.

The album was recorded in June 1987 and officially released on September 18, 1987 by Mercury and Vertigo in Europe. The album featured keyboards which was another departure in their music style changing from their Lick It Up/Animalize/Asylum heavy metal sound into the pop-metal sound. The album peaked at #18 on the US Billboard 200 chart, making Crazy Nights the highest-charting Kiss album of the 1980s in the United States. The album was certified Platinum on November 18, 1987 in Canada and few months later in the US, on February 18, 1988. It was re-released in 1998 as part of the Kiss Remasters series and to date is the last Kiss album to have been remastered.

"Crazy Crazy Nights" and "Reason to Live" were played regularly on live shows until Eric Carr's death in 1991 (although Crazy Nights returned to KISS' set on the Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour). Otherwise, the album has not been performed live ever since.

"Crazy Crazy Nights" / "No No No" - August 18, 1987 (Mercury 888 796)

The most successful single was "Crazy Crazy Nights", charting in five countries, and the least successful single was "Turn On the Night" charting only in the UK, where it reached #41. The highest charting single was also "Crazy Crazy Nights", who reached #4 in the UK.

Happy 30th Anniversary "Lick It Up" | wikipedia

Today In KISStory - 1983

KISS release their studio album "Lick It Up".

Lick It Up is the 11th studio album by the American rock band Kiss. On the day of the record's release, the group members appeared on MTV without their trademark makeup. It was the first public appearance without makeup by Kiss since the band's very early days. The title track "Lick It Up" remains a staple of the ensemble's live performances, having been played over nine-hundred times as of September 2012. However, the rest of the album is rarely played live.

This is the first KISS album officially featuring new lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent, despite the fact that he unofficially appeared for the first time on the last album Creatures of the Night.
