Paul Stanley 1977 Stage Worn Costume On eBay

Listed on eBay is an original Paul Stanley stage worn jumpsuit from the 1977 Rock and Roll Over Tour. Here's the auction description:

The jumpsuit was originally purchased from the June, 2000 Butterfields Kiss Auction. You can see the original auction listing in the Kiss Auction Catalog page 160, Lot #1792. The lot was sold as the complete costume, however this auction is for the jumpsuit only. There are three known jumpsuits that were made for Paul for that tour. Besides this one, I know of only one other that is in collectors private collections. I purchased this jumpsuit from a very well known high end Kiss collector. He has the other jumpsuit, and purchased this lot to complete it. He kept the boots, belt and opera gloves, and sold this jumpsuit to me. I can disclose the provenance of the jumpsuit to serious buyers.

The jumpsuit is in good condition and shows signs of wear by Paul. There are some rhinestones that have fallen off from use, and there is wear on the shoulder from Paul's guitar strap. I have included a photo of the jumpsuit on display at the official 1995 Kiss Convention in Indianapolis back in July, 1995. I've also included a scan of the original Butterfields Auction listing.

KISS To Kick Off U.S. 'Monster' Tour At Amway Center In Orlando

We've got exciting news for arena football fans! ArenaBowl XXVI comes to the Amway Center in Orlando this August 17 at 1:00 p.m. ArenaBowl is the AFL's annual Championship game pitting the winner of the American Conference versus the winner of the National Conference and will air live on CBS.

This year's ArenaBowl is expected to be the best championship game yet with the broadcast returning to CBS, the nation's most watched network. But wait, there's more! KISS will hit the stage on the eve of the ArenaBowl. With this performance the renowned band will kick off their Monster World Tour. Good to know the first "stop" is Orlando!

KISS Reflects On Years: 1973-2013

My dream from the start was five years of glory with KISS. Along with Peter and Ace, we kicked doors open that stood in our way, and every band member who has stood with me at some point during these decades has played an essential part in turning that five year dream into a phenomenal 40 year reality. I thank each of you for your contribution to this milestone.

Our journey and victories are a joy I also share with you, our fans who have always given us the freedom to stand and fall on our own terms, and we have done both with a grateful smile. For the past ten years, Tommy and Eric’s pride and dedication have enabled Gene and I to reclaim and celebrate all that we have been, while continuing to move forward in a way that would have been impossible without them. I love playing with the band as it is today, and many of my proudest moments are tied to moments of magic we have created together in the studio and on the stage. I know we’re ready to do it again.

Humble thanks.
-Paul Stanley

A special thanx to ALL of the Fans who have been with the band on this roller coaster ride called KISS for 40 years! I am honored to be a part of this machine and pay special respect to all members past & present. I especially want to thank Paul, Gene, Tommy & Doc McGhee for giving me a place to call home. And most importantly the Fans. YOU Fuel this engine!

-Eric Singer

At 40 years strong, I'm proud to be in one of the greatest bands in rock history. KISS is a band that is as full of life and vitality today as it was 10, 20, 30 and 40 years ago. All eras of the band should be celebrated today. Long live KISS.

-Tommy Thayer

To the Kiss Army - who made it all possible for us.

To Paul, without whom I would never have been able to achieve my dreams.

And to the band - past and present, for continuing to treat the stage as holy ground and the fans as our bosses.

Here's to another 40 years!

-Gene Simmons

Happy 40th Anniversary KISS |

40 Years Ago Today, KISS Played Their First Concert

Today In KISStory - January 30, 1973: KISS played their very first show at a club called 'Popcorn' (The Coventry) in Queens, New York.

They perform 2 sets that night for a crowd of under 10 people. Some say there was only 3 people in the audience that night - Gene's girlfriend, her brother, and the club's bartender.

This night Ace comes up with the 'KISS' logo and the band starts wearing makeup. This was the first night of three nights at the club (Wed, Thurs and Fri). KISS was paid $150 for the three nights played. The story also goes that on the first night, the club changed its name to The Coventry.

Happy 40th Anniversary KISS!

KISS Concert Part Of Events Centered Around ArenaBowl In Orlando
Orlando will host ArenaBowl in August for first time since 2000.

Preds managing partner Brett Bouchy grew up a KISS fan and said the band's association with the ArenaBowl looked bleak at times. They will perform at a concert the day before the game and at the ArenaBowl.

"We've been working on it for months, but as any good business deal has, it had a few hiccups,'' Bouchy said. "We didn't have the green light until we got the signature from [KISS bassist and co-vocalist] Gene Simmons, and the signature didn't come over until an hour before the press conference."

KISS To Headline ArenaBowl XXVI Weekend |

Legendary rock band KISS will perform during ArenaBowl XXVI weekend in Orlando, the Arena Football League announced on Tuesday.

About an hour before the press conference, the city and the Predators confirmed (sort of) that KISS will be coming to ArenaBowl XXVI this year too! (“They did announce that there will be a concert,” city spokeswoman Heather Fagan says. “They didn’t say whether it would be the same night. I think those details are still being worked out.”). The assumption (and now confirmed assertion) is that KISS will boot their way through a show Friday night, leaving a very short window to have all of the makeup scrubbed off the floor by the 1 p.m. game on Saturday.

KISS Guitarist Tommy Thayer Chats About His Role In The Iconic Band

KISS lead guitarist Tommy Thayer was on hand at the 2013 NAMM show in Anaheim, Calif. over this past weekend to visit the Gibson guitar booth and give the capacity crowd an up close and personal look at his spectacular new signature Epiphone "Spaceman" Les Paul.

It's a silver sparkle beauty that Thayer is clearly very proud of, as he should be. He's now been in KISS for over a decade, and he's slowly but surely carved out his own unique sound and approach, all the while being sensitive to the legacy of the "Spaceman" character originally created by original guitarist Ace Frehley.

As Tommy tells us, he didn't want to rock the boat too early in the game, but with the last two KISS albums, Sonic Boom and Monster, he took the opportunity to begin putting his personal stamp on the sound of the "hottest band in the land."

Gene Simmons Makes 'The 20 Richest Musicians of All Time' List

The 20 Richest Musicians of All Time (You’ll Never Guess the Billionaire)

14. Gene Simmons: $300 million

Simmons’ ridiculously popular reality series Family Jewels may have gotten axed, but the crotchety rocker is still raking in revenues from exceedingly lucrative tours (2008-09’s “Kiss Alive/35 World Tour” raked in over $30 million alone), and enough branded merchandise (condoms, a coffin, a credit card, among the stranger things) to satiate generations of KISS Army veterans. When you have to hire Live Nation to manage your merchandising and licensing, you know you have a lot of things with your name attached to them.

40 Years Later: The Story Of KISS & Makeup

Forty years ago this week, on January 30, 1973, the band formerly known as Wicked Lester played its first gig under its new name. To three people. In a long-forgotten venue in Queens called the Popcorn Club (later renamed the Coventry). Why is this notable, you ask? Well, because that was the first official concert by a not-so-little band called KISS. And four decades, 100 million in album sales, multiple lineup changes, thousands of pieces of mass-produced merchandise, and countless gallons of facepaint later, KISS (or at least founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley) are still rocking and rolling all nite and partying ev-er-y day.

KISS To Headline London's Hard Rock Calling At New Olympic Park?

Are Live Nation on the verge of announcing one of the world's biggest bands, KISS, for a Hard Rock Calling headline performance at London's Olympic Park this summer?

At the end of last week, Live Nation announced they had secured London's Olympic Park and Stadium for future live music events. The Live Nation move to the Olympic Park marks the end of a 10-year deal with The Royal Parks. Last year, Live Nation had to deal with a number of complaints from local residents about the noise levels surrounding Hyde Park during events. You may recall Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney being "cut-off" after their show over-ran last summer.

With the annual Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Calling - both of which were previously staged at London's Hyde Park - already confirmed for the brand new venue, glam-rock legends KISS are rumoured to be this year's headliners for the Hard Rock Calling event.

Live Nation have already confirmed they plan to announce "some major concerts with world-renowned artists" over the next few weeks, could KISS be one of the first big acts to be announced?

UK fans have been anticipating a new tour announcement from KISS for a while. The band performed an intimate fundraiser gig for the Help for Heroes charity in London last summer, following the cancellation of Sonisphere Festival, a festival they were due to headline. Ever since, the band have set tongues wagging about a return to the UK and the possibility of a full UK tour to support their most recent album 'Monster'.

Kiss have remained tight-lipped about a UK visit and nothing has been officially confirmed by both the band or Live Nation, however, KISS have toured America, live shows have been confirmed for Europe and the UK are still awaiting for that all important announcement.

Ace Frehley Recording New Album With Help From Eddie Trunk | Photo Credit: Eddie Trunk

Radio and TV host Eddie Trunk has posted on his official Twitter account that he is currently helping original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley with his next album. Eddie was asked by a fan on Twitter if he thought that Ace Frehley would record another album?

Eddie's answer: "Yes, helping him with it now."

Eddie Trunk was vice president of Megaforce Records in the late 80's which had signed both Metallica and Anthrax. He earned executive producer credit on some works from the following bands: Anthrax, Raven, TT Quick, Manowar, Overkill, King's X, Prophet, Icon and Ace Frehley. Eddie Trunk was the main driving force behind reviving Ace Frehley's career, convincing Megaforce Records head Jon "Jonny Z" Zazula to sign Ace to a solo deal.

A Closer Look At Paul Stanley's "Time Traveler" Guitar
Here's a closer look at Paul's new Washburn Starfire Time Traveler guitar, which is featured at NAMM! The display features a great quote from Paul, which reads:

"I had a vision and the challenge was creating it. As someone who has collected some pretty stellar examples of classic vintage guitars I know both their magic and their myths. "New" can be spectacular. "Old" can be subpar and vice versa. The Washburn Starfire Time Traveler series imparts a classic iconic guitar that never was, with a life, soul and mojo that rivals decades of travel on countless musical journeys. This is a guitar that not only screams vintage; it whispers it. From the construction to the colors. From the case to the hangtags it's all there. Pick one up and play it. The next trip starts with you."

Chris Dale's Metal Meltdown: KISS Follow Up To Monster 2013

My wish for 2013 would be another KISS album before the end of the year. 'Monster' was great, I'm looking forward to the European tour in the Summer and I'm sure they'll be touring the world well into Autumn but I still want more.

They'd probably say they didn't have time to write one by Christmas 2013 with their busy schedule but that's the cunning point - they don't have to write one. It's already done. They just have to record it and that would take them a month at most.

KISS: 10 Awesome ‘70’s Songs You’ve Never Heard

American hard rock legends Kiss celebrate their fortieth anniversary this month and have marked the occasion by reminding us of this: Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Peter Criss auditioned lead guitarist Ace Frehley in a New York City loft way back in 1973 and thus, Kiss was born. Love ‘em or hate ‘em you can’t deny the impact of Kiss and the legendary status that sees them continue to sell out large venues around the globe, even with half their original members replaced. For the purpose of this retrospective you need to know that I fall into the ‘love ‘em’ camp and I’m saying so up front just so we’re clear. What follows is gleaned from nearly 40 years of both loving and, at times, hating the band Kiss.

Like much of the world I didn’t become acquainted with the band until after the release of Kiss Alive in 1975 when the live version of Rock n Roll All Nite was blasting out of A.M. transistor radios everywhere. My American step-dad loved to smoke weed and get mellow to James Taylor and while I can and did appreciate the finer points of that he was not reciprocally open minded about my love for Kiss, an outrageously attired band in make-up who liked to blow stuff up, set things on fire and spit blood. In short he thought that Kiss was disgusting and for a rebellious, long-haired teen with a bad attitude, that was a recipe for unbridled joy.

This then is one writer’s opinion with respect to ten hidden gems that all but the most ardent of Kiss fans may have missed, an opinion formed through decades of being a Kiss fan and observer. I’ve organized these gems by release date in order to avoid a debate about how these songs would appear in a ‘top ten’ format. I have listed them this way as a purposeful construct, the idea being that each tune is worthy in and of itself to be included in the list without regard for how it stacks up against its brethren.

So, let’s proceed. Read more HERE:

Gene Simmons' 1979 "View-Master" Axe Bass

My Little Guitar

From "My Little":

"In 1979, Gene Simmons asked to another luthier, a friend of Ace Frehley's, to make another kind of Bass Axe, totally different from the Valdez version. Steve Carr built the Axe during the spring of 1979 and gave it to Gene on July 13th 1979.

The Axe is very well known because of the View-Master reels photo session and used during the Dynasty tour 'til December 1979. Unfortunately, there's no live shoot of him with the Axe. The axe was returned to Steve Carr in the end of 1979, he re-built it in 2000 and is for sale in a guitar shop since 2005. Steve Carr died in June 2006.

The headstock features an amazing Gene's make up in perloïd. The tuners look like a double battle axe."

Review: Best Of 2012 - KISS Monster / Morley Seaver

I've been a solider in the KISS Army for a long time. Since the very beginning, in fact. I bought the debut record the day after it was released. And as a fan who has supported them at every stage of their career, I think I've got more than a bit of perspective.

With that in mind, it's with complete confidence that I make the following statement. This is not a regular KISS album. With past records, everything was transparent and you knew exactly what was what when dropping the needle or pushing the button.

Review: KISS – The Casablanca Singles Collection

 Source: Joe Geesin |

1974-1982 29 CD or 29 7" Box Set/ Universal

Now this is a very limited but seriously lavish box set – but then Kiss never did things by halves, especially during the makeup years. This set covers the classic era, considered by many (myself included) the best. There is SO much classic stuff here, and it covers the band’s career from the first album up to when lead guitarist Ace Frehley was replaced by Vinnie Vincent.

The first single Nothin’ To Lose is a little pedestrian by later standards, and Kissin’ Time (which I do rather like) is a tad cheesy but then it’s onto Rock’n’Roll All Nite (both studio and live versions) and Strutter and, well, you know all the period hits.

The Surprise hit Beth and the disco hit I Was Made For Loving You are all a great listen, as are the singles from the four solo albums.

Kiss were never really a solo kind of band, better known for their glam riffs, but Ace Frehley does pull some good solos and a lot of decent guitar work..

Most of the vocals are split between Simmons and Stanley, but there are a handful of tracks sung by Criss and Frehley (not just the solo singles). And if you explore deeper there is the odd track where bass is played by Frehley too.

The full track listing is below but it’s worth noting that the solo singles are as originally released, with mask insert and on coloured vinyl. Most of them come in picture sleeves, some are European variations.

The tracks are:

Nothin’ To Lose / Love Theme From Kiss
Kissin’ Time / Nothin’ To Lose
Strutter / 100,000 Years
Let Me Go Rock’n’Roll / Hotter Than Hell
Rock And Roll All Night / Getaway
C’mon And Love Me / Getaway
Rock And Roll All Night (live) / Rock And Roll All Night
Shout It Out Loud / Sweet Pain
Flaming Youth / God Of Thunder
Detroit Rock City / Beth
Beth / Detroit Rock City
Hard Luck Woman / Mr Speed
Calling Dr Love / Take Me
Christeen Sixteen / Shock Me
Love Gun / Hooligan
Shout It Out Loud (live) / Nothin’ To Lose (live)
Rocket Ride / Tomorrow And Tonight (live)
Strutter ’78 / Shock Me
Hold Me Touch Me / Goodbye (Paul Stanley)
New York Groove / Snow Blind (Ace Frehley)
Radioactive / See You In your Dreams (Gene Simmons)
Don’t You Let Me Down / Hooked On Rock’n’Roll (Peter Criss)
You Matter To Me / Hooked On Rock’n’Roll (Peter Criss)
I Was Made For Lovin’ You / Hard Times
Sure Know Something / Dirty Livin’
Shandi / She’s So European
Tomorrow / Naked City
A World Without Heroes / Dark Light
I Love It Loud / Danger

This is as extravagant as you’d expect from Ki$$ but looks a lovely set. Some fantastic music but so OTT in both packaging and price it’s only for the hardcore.

The music is well exploring by cheaper means if you can. The only omission (this is NOT a complete singles set) are the 2 12”singles issued with the extended 8 minute version of I Was Made For Loving you. 9/10

Top 10 Paul Stanley KISS Songs  | Photo: Getty Images

The best Paul Stanley Kiss songs show just how important the talent and charisma of the man born Stanley Harvey Eisen are to one of hard rock’s most outrageous and enduring bands.

Think about it, this whole ridiculous circus doesn’t fly without a ringleader who truly believes in the power of rock and roll enough to don warpaint, platform boots, feathers and leather night after night while staring down decades of critical sniping and changing musical trends.

Which is exactly what Stanley has done without falter, even as his bandmates came, went or got caught up in film careers or other outside interests. So here they are, the 10 best songs featuring the true president of Kissnation, Paul Stanley:

Brazilian TV Report: KISS by Monster Mini Golf

Journalist and TV host Amaury Jr visits KISS by Monster Mini Golf in Las Vegas. Here's the report that ran on Brazilian TV.

Swedish Music Journalist To Publish KISS Biography

Swedish music journalist Carl Linnaeus is working on a biography of legendary rockers KISS for release in Sweden in May by Bokfabriken. Entitled "KISS - Den Osminkade Sanningen" ("KISS - The Naked Truth"), the book is described in a press release as "a tribute as well as a critical account of 40 years of rock history, through the ups and down. New, never-before-heard stories and information will be revealed."

Carl has followed KISS for many years while writing cover-feature stories for Sweden Rock Magazine. In addition to having personally met the KISS bandmembers, Carl's story is based on many long interviews with people close to the group. Managers, producers, ex-wives, roadies, past members and session musicians, alongside Carl's vast knowledge about the group and its history makes this an exciting and interesting read for any fan of rock 'n' roll and the American dream.

Cara Guitars And Gene Simmons Team Up For The Limited Edition Chrome Axe

Each instrument is individually chromed and custom built.

Beverly Hills, CA (January 18, 2013) -- When a KISS fan asked Jim Cara to create an exact copy of the Gene Simmons Spector bass that made history during the 1970's, he had no idea it would eventually impress the man himself. The client handed the bass to Simmons at a show and Gene actually thought he had his old bass back, or at least a perfect clone.

Cara didn't know that the Simmons was searching for an outside-the-box guitar scientist to help them perfect a few specialty one-of-a-kind instruments. After all, Chrome, Flames, and Leather go just as well with Hot Rod Guitars as they do with KISS. Paul Hayeland, director of GS AXE LTD, decided to give Original Cara Hot Rod Guitars a shot at making some projects happen. Dozens of prototypes later, Cara produced the elusive Chrome instruments for Simmons, as well as glass and studded instruments that completely identify with the Simmons stage persona.

Each instrument is individually chromed and custom built, as Cara puts it, "There is no way to mass produce Chrome wood guitars, I have a education background in coatings. I just loved guitars. Many companies have tried Chrome on wood and I've watched and predicted the problems they would encounter. It was an honor for Gene and Paul to come to me for a solution and I don't think anyone is better fit for the job than Original Cara Hot Rod Guitars"

In addition to the Chrome Axe, GS AXE will be debuting a Clear Punisher bass, as well as a studded series, and a road worn reshaped Punisher.

The band takes to the high seas once again, sailing out of Miami during the Halloween season for four nights of the kind of fun only KISS can deliver.

Scheduled to depart aboard the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Pearl Oct. 28, the roundtrip voyage to Great Stirrup Cay immediately steps into high gear with a special acoustic “unmasked” concert on the pool deck.

Of course, it wouldn’t be KISS without all the theatrics, makeup and special effects the band is famous for. The cruise also includes a full-blown KISS theatre show and opportunities for fans to have their photos taken with the band in full costume. In addition to a Q&A with the band, each KISS member will host their own onboard activity.

A new KISS Kruise attraction is a meet-and-greet for new members of the KISS Army. Strictly for the kids, the only fans that need apply must be ages 2-14. What’s more, this particular feature proudly proclaims, “No Parents Allowed!”

With pricing beginning at $750 per person based on double occupancy (plus fees and taxes), you get entertainment, meals and all the amenities you’ve come to expect on these ocean-going extravaganzas, including pools, hot tubs, rock climbing, a fitness center and more.

Staterooms go on sale to the public March 15. Grab your water wings and dogpaddle on over to for all the particulars

KISS Wins Six 2012 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards

Kiss were the clear champs of our reader-selected 2012 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards, taking home trophies in six of the 11 categories — including Album and Artist of the Year.

It was a very busy year for the greasepaint-wearing legends, who released a “resurrected” version of their classic ‘Destroyer’ album in addition to the brand-new record ‘Monster.’ The former won Best Reissue or Archival Release honors by nearly a four-to-one margin (48% to 13%) over the nearest competitor, Pink Floyd‘s massive ‘The Wall: Experience Edition’ box set.

Meanwhile, ‘Monster’ earned 44% of the vote in the Album of the Year race, easily outpacing Van Halen‘s ‘A Different Kind of Truth’ (14%) and Rush‘s ‘Clockwork Angels’ (10%). The album’s second single, ‘Long Way Down,’ took home the Song of the Year prize with 35% of the vote, with Journey‘s ‘Resonate’ (11%) and Motley Crue‘s ‘Sex’ (10%) also earning medals.

As you can imagine, racking up wins in all those big categories also made it pretty clear that Kiss was the Artist of the Year in the eyes of our readers, and indeed they beat Van Halen (14%) and Aerosmith (10%) out for that honor by capturing 42% of the vote.

The makeup-wearing marvels also took home prizes for Commercial of the Year (although we wonder if even they might agree Rush and Eddie Money got robbed there) and Photo of the Year, for a series of shots unveiling the latest versions of their famous stage costumes. Together with summer tour mates Motley Crue, Kiss also came in second place in the Tour of the Year category.
